How to Set a Default Redirect for your Domain on Linkly

Linkly allows you to use the naked domain (i.e. yourdomain.com) as a Linkly link too.

How to set up a default redirect for your domain

1

Attach a domain

Follow the instructions for attaching a domain if you haven't already attached one.

2

Go to Domains and click Set in the Catch-all column.

On the Domains page, find your domain and look for the Catch-all column on the right. If no default redirect has been set, you will see a Set button — click it to open the new link form pre-filled with your domain.

Go to **Domains** and click **Set** in the Catch-all column.

3

Fill in the Destination field.

This is where you want your domain to go to when it doesn't match another Linkly link on your workspace. This might be your website, for example.

You can change this later.

4

The domain and path (/) are already filled in for you. Just click Save Link to create the default redirect.

5

Test it out

When you visit your attached domain, you will be redirected to this link automatically.

This also applies to any other 'not found' URLs on your domain.

Frequently asked questions

Does this redirect all traffic on my domain?

Yes. Any URL that isn't 'found' on your domain will go to this link. That includes the root (/) of your domain.

Search bots can see this domain from public DNS records, and will crawl it to see what's there.

You can expect to see a high proportion of robot traffic on this link. You can also block robots.

How do I edit or view traffic for my catch-all redirect?

Once a catch-all redirect is set, the Catch-all column on the Domains page shows two icons: a pencil to edit the link, and a bar chart to view its traffic.
