How to delete your Linkly account and data

This page explains how to delete your Linkly account (the Linkly: URL Shortener & QR app and app.linklyhq.com), how to delete data without closing your account, and what happens to your data afterwards.

Delete your whole account

  1. 1
Email support@linklyhq.com from the email address you use to sign in to Linkly, with the subject line "Delete my account".
  2. 2
We will confirm the request by replying to that address. This is to make sure nobody else can delete your account.
  3. 3
Once you confirm, we close the account and delete it. Your short links stop redirecting straight away.

You can also start the request from the chat widget inside the app. Requests are handled within 30 days, and usually much faster.

If you are the only owner of a workspace that other people use, the workspace and its links are deleted too. Transfer ownership first if a colleague needs to keep it.

You do not need to delete your account to remove data:

  • Links: open any link in the app and choose Delete. Deleted links go to the trash, where they can be restored for 30 days, and are then removed permanently. You can also select many links at once from the Links page.
  • Click data: click records belong to the link they were recorded against, so deleting a link deletes its clicks.
  • Custom domains: remove a domain from the Domains page.
  • Team members: remove users from the Users page of the workspace.

What is deleted and what is kept

When your account is deleted we remove your profile, workspaces, links, click analytics, custom domain settings, API keys and integrations.

A few things are kept for a limited time or for legal reasons:

  • Backups: copies of deleted data can remain in our backups for up to 30 days before they are overwritten.
  • Billing records: invoices and payment records are kept for as long as tax and accounting law requires, typically six years in the UK.
  • Abuse prevention: minimal records needed to prevent abuse of the service, such as a hash of a blocked domain, may be retained.

Full details are in our privacy policy.
