Linkly & Power Automate

What is Power Automate?

Microsoft Power Automate is Microsoft's automation platform. A flow starts from a trigger, such as a new row in Excel, an item added to a SharePoint list, a form submitted or a schedule, and then runs a series of actions across Microsoft 365, Dynamics 365, Dataverse and hundreds of other services.

With the Linkly connector, one of those actions can be Create or update a link, and another can be Get click analytics. Short links get created where your data already lives, and click data flows back into the tools your team already reads.

How to use Linkly & Power Automate

Linkly publishes a certified connector for the Power Platform. It is built and maintained by Linkly, signed in with your Linkly account, and needs no API key.

With the connector, a flow can:

  • Create short links with a custom domain, slug, UTM parameters, retargeting pixels and social preview, then write the short URL back to the row, record or message that triggered it.
  • Update or trash existing links by ID, for example to change a destination when a campaign page moves.
  • Read click analytics: clicks over time for a workspace or a set of links, filtered by date, country, browser, platform, referrer or ISP.
  • Get click counts by dimension such as country, city, platform, referrer or UTM parameter.
  • Record conversions against the link that was clicked, and list recent conversions.

The connector is certified, which means Microsoft has reviewed and published it and it appears in the connector picker like any Microsoft connector. Certified connectors from third parties are classed as Premium in Power Automate, so your Microsoft licence needs to include premium connectors. The same connector is also available in Power Apps, Azure Logic Apps and Copilot Studio.

Microsoft rolls a newly certified connector out to its regions over a couple of weeks. If Linkly does not appear in the connector search yet, check again in a few days.

Connect Linkly to Power Automate

  1. 1
In a flow, click New step (or the + button) and search for Linkly.
  2. 2
Pick an action, for example Create or update a link.
  3. 3
Power Automate asks you to create a connection. Click Sign in with Linkly.
  4. 4
Sign in to your Linkly account, choose the workspace this connection should use, and approve the request.

That is all. The connection is bound to the workspace you chose, so every action in a flow that uses it runs in that workspace. To automate a second workspace, create a second connection and pick it in the action's settings.

Actions

Creates a short link, or updates an existing one when you supply a Link ID. The fields match the New Link form in Linkly:

  • Destination URL is the only field you need to create a link.
  • Domain and Slug put the link on your own custom domain with a path you choose. The slug must start with a slash, for example /spring-sale.
  • Name is the nickname shown in your dashboard, and Note is a private note.
  • UTM Source, Medium, Campaign, Content and Term are appended to the destination.
  • Meta Pixel ID, Google Analytics 4 Tag ID, Google Tag Manager ID and TikTok Pixel ID fire retargeting and analytics tags on the click.
  • Open Graph Title, Description and Image set the preview shown when the short link is shared on social media.
  • Block Bots, Forward Parameters, Cloaking, Hide Referrer, Head Tags, Body Tags and Enabled work as they do in the app.

The action returns the new link, including its short URL and ID, which you can use in later steps.

Fetches one link by its ID, with its destination, short URL and settings.

Returns a page of the links in a workspace with their click counts. Supports search and sorting, so a flow can find a link by name before updating it.

Moves a link to the trash. Its short URL stops redirecting straight away, and the link can be restored from the trash in Linkly if it was deleted by mistake.

📈 Get click analytics

Returns click counts over time for a whole workspace or for specific links, optionally filtered by date range, country, browser, platform, referrer or ISP. This is the action to use for scheduled reports.

🌍 Get click counts by dimension

Returns clicks grouped by one dimension, ordered by count: country, city, platform, browser, referrer or a UTM parameter, for example "clicks by country this month".

🌐 List custom domains

Returns the custom domains configured in a workspace, so a flow can pick a valid Domain when creating links.

🎯 Report a conversion

Records a conversion such as a purchase, sign-up or custom event. Pass the linkly_cid value from your landing page URL as the attribution token and Linkly credits the conversion to the link that was clicked. This action needs conversion tracking on your workspace.

🧾 List conversions

Returns the most recent conversions recorded in the workspace.

🗂️ List workspaces

Returns the workspaces available to the connection. Actions that take a Workspace field show this list as a dropdown, so you rarely need to call it yourself.

Flows to build

Shorten every new row. Trigger on a new row in an Excel table or SharePoint list that holds campaign URLs. Add Create or update a link with the row's URL as the destination and its campaign name as the UTM campaign, then update the row with the short URL the action returns. The sheet fills itself in.

A weekly click report in Teams. Use a Recurrence trigger, call Get click analytics for the past seven days, and post the totals to a Teams channel or send them by email. Add Get click counts by dimension for a top-countries table.

Links for every Dynamics 365 campaign. When a campaign is created in Dynamics 365 or a row is added in Dataverse, create a tracked link with the campaign's UTM fields and store the short URL on the record, so everyone in sales shares the same tracked link.

Conversions from your CRM. Store the linkly_cid from your landing page in the lead record. When the deal closes, call Report a conversion with that value and the deal amount, and the revenue shows up against the link, ad and partner that produced it.

Things to know

  • One workspace per connection. The workspace is chosen when you sign in. Create another connection for another workspace.
  • No click triggers. The connector has actions only. To start a flow when a link is clicked, create a Linkly webhook that posts to a flow built on the When an HTTP request is received trigger.
  • Rate limits. Listing links is limited to one request every two seconds per workspace, and Get click counts by dimension returns a rate-limit error when the limit is exceeded. Add a short Delay step and retry if a flow hits either.
  • Not included: bulk link creation, click exports and domain management. These are available through the Linkly API.
  • Conversion actions need conversion tracking to be enabled on the workspace; other workspaces receive an error from those two actions.

The connector mirrors the Linkly API. If you prefer another automation tool, Linkly also has Zapier, Make and n8n integrations.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a Linkly API key to use the Power Automate connector?

No. The connector uses OAuth. When you create a connection you click Sign in with Linkly, sign in, choose a workspace and approve it. There is no key to copy or rotate.

Which Linkly plan do I need?

Any plan, including the free plan. Reporting and listing conversions also needs conversion tracking enabled on your workspace. On the Microsoft side the connector is classed as Premium, so your Power Automate licence must include premium connectors.

Can I use the Linkly connector in Power Apps or Logic Apps?

Yes. Certified connectors are shared across the Power Platform, so the same Linkly connector and the same connections work in Power Apps, Azure Logic Apps and Copilot Studio.

Not in the connector. Create a webhook in Linkly that posts each click to a flow that starts with the When an HTTP request is received trigger. That gives you the click's country, platform, browser, referrer and parameters in near real time.

No. The link is moved to the trash and stops redirecting. You can restore it from the trash in Linkly.

Which workspace do my actions run in?

Actions with a Workspace field show a dropdown of the workspaces available to the connection. Actions without one, such as Get a link and Report a conversion, use the workspace you chose when you signed in.

Microsoft rolls certified connectors out region by region over a couple of weeks after publication. Search again in a few days, and make sure your environment allows premium connectors.
